James
DR JAMES McCONVILL

James McConvill is the founder of James McConvill & Associates, and now a consultant to the firm. James has over 10 years post-admission experience in the law. James holds an honours degree in Law and a PhD from Deakin University in Melbourne. He has published several articles in Australia and overseas in leading family law journals, including the International Journal of Law, Policy & the Family published by Oxford University Press in the UK.

James has particular expertise with mediation of disputes, and preparation of Binding Financial Agreements to settle the distribution of property (especially where businesses are involved) in family law matters.

REBECCA CANN

Rebecca Cann is the Manager of James McConvill & Associates.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting Major) from the University of Sydney, and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting (with Honours) from Kingscliff TAFE on the Gold Coast.

Rebecca has an immense amount of accounting and book-keeping experience, with both professional services firms and retail/wholesale enterprises. She also has a number of years of practical experience as a paralegal, with particular expertise in family law paralegal work.

Joseph Carbone

Joseph Carbone is a Senior Associate with the firm, bring a wealth of experience from an earlier career in business.

Joseph has developed a practice that focuses in particular on business and property matters, both in relation to family law and general commercial and civil claims. He is also committed to alternative dispute resolution and to the use of parenting plans and binding financial agreements as alternatives to family law proceedings.

Adrian Barbaro
Adrian Barbaro

Adrian Barbaro is a Lawyer with the firm. Adrian has a criminal and civil law background but more recently has gained considerable experience in family law.

Adrian graduated from Murdoch University in 2012 with a Bachelors in Law and Politics and International Studies. He graduated from the College of Law at the end of 2013 and was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in February 2014.
Prior to commencing with James McConvill & Associates, Adrian began his career in the rural city of Albany practicing in a busy civil and commercial law firm until moving back to Perth to practice criminal, civil and family law at a national firm.

Adrian has gained significant Court exposure throughout his legal career and has a friendly, yet authoritative and professional approach with clients. He is a resourceful individual with the ability to assess all issues to effectively protect clients and applicable stakeholders across all backgrounds. He prides himself on client service and dedication to clients' needs, delivering the best possible results.

Catherine
Catherine Hill

Catherine Hill is a Lawyer with the firm. Catherine obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Southern Cross University and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University.

Since being admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Catherine has practised primarily in family law. She has experience in a wide range of family law issues including parenting matters, financial settlements, and child relocation issues. She appreciates the sensitive nature of family law, and that each clientís needs and circumstances are individual to them, and she works with them to achieve the best possible outcome. Catherine also has gained valuable experience in the areas of wills and probate and criminal law. Prior to working at James McConvill & Associates, she worked at a generalist law firm where she worked in family law, wills and estates, litigation and conveyancing. Catherine has a keen interest in social justice, and is a member of both the General Family Law and General Criminal Law Panels for Legal Aid New South Wales.

Prior to working in law, Catherine worked in publishing in both London and New York. She grew up in Paris and speaks and writes fluent French. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children, cooking and travelling.

Maka Atanasov
Maka Atanasov

Maka Atanasov is a Lawyer with the firm, having obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University with First Class Honours. She was admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2016, after obtaining her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from Australian National University. Maka completed her Dissertation thesis at University on the efficacy of econometric research in to the death penalty in the United States. She has a particular interest in Family Law and Criminal Law both on a domestic and international scale. Her passion for international law has enabled her to work with James McConvill & Associates in the United States at their Florida branch. In her spare time, Maka enjoys playing indoor and outdoor competitive soccer and cooking dishes from various cultural backgrounds.

Maka Atanasov
Adam Arness

Adam Arness is a Lawyer with the firm, having obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Monash University in 2014. He was admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria in August 2014, after having acquired his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.

Adam prides himself on his research and writing skills, illustrated by him having been awarded a Monash Law School Prize in 2011 for International Environmental Law. Adam gained early experience in the not-for-profit sector, previously serving as an officer bearer for various local associations whereby he advised on legal compliance whilst dealing with various external stakeholders, and is also one of the youngest Directors of a Community Bank in Australia. Aided by such experiences and commercial acumen, Adam has also worked within an independent government organisation, as well as several generalist law firms in the areas of employment law, wills and estates and family law.

Most recently, Adam was instructing solicitor in a large civil litigation trial in the County Court of Victoria, covering a broad range of legal issues. Adam has a passion for achieving the best outcomes for his clients based on the understanding that their issues and desired outcomes are inherently different and thus, require tailored solutions.

Maka Atanasov
Reem Al Bahadiri

Reem Al Bahadiri is a Lawyer with the firm, having obtained her Bachelor of Laws at Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2014. She was admitted as Lawyer by the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2015, after obtaining her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law Australia.

Reem has previously worked for a non-for profit organisation and prior to her employment with James McConvill and Associates, she was employed by a national firm and was practicing in Family, Criminal, Traffic and Civil Law. She is very passionate about Family Law. Reem is bilingual and speaks Fluent English and Arabic. In her spare time, Reem likes to travel, and spend time with family and friends.

Maka Atanasov
Lisa O'Dwyer

Lisa O'Dwyer is admitted as a Lawyer in the Supreme Court of Victoria and as a Solicitor in the High Court of Australia.

Lisa has experience in family and criminal law and in general law practice.
In her spare time, Lisa has an interest in all things fitness, literary and New York related. She has also been known to travel around the country in pursuit of the best coffee and cake in town.

Gary
Gary Mrocki

Gary is a Law Clerk with the firm. Gary has an extensive background in consumer and commercial finance as a finance broker / consultant for 30 years. Gary also lectures at a university level in Sports Law involving negligence, contract, drugs, restraint of trade and criminal law in sport. Gary is also a current PHD student and enrolled to undertake a short course Masters of Sports Law.

Prior to joining James McConvill and Associates Gary was employed for 6 months by the South Australian Government as a legal secretary to five senior Crown solicitors within the Department of Planning Transport and infrastructure as well as a legal intern with the Football Federation Australia in Sydney. Outside of work, Gary enjoys AFL soccer, cricket and golf.

James
Angela Crawford

Angela Crawford is a Paralegal for the firm. Angela has more than 22 yearsí experience as a paralegal, and has provided legal support in all phases of litigation (including trial preparation and support) involving family law, contract and business matters, personal injury, and professional liability. She is an experienced project manager and is trained to effectively and cost-effectively implement complex litigation support, including document management, review and e-discovery.

Angela has worked and travelled overseas to work with international clients managing voluminous document productions with a team of lawyers and paralegals on several different occasions.

Angela completed a Bachelor in Political Science at University of North Carolina and completed the Philadelphia Institute of Paralegal Studies course in January 1994.

James
Stuart Amos

Stuart Amos is a Law Clerk with the firm and is currently completing his Bachelor of Laws degree at Bond University. During his law studies, he has participated in various mooting events and enjoys advocacy. Stuart is focusing on Family Law and working towards completing the qualifications to be able to conduct Family Dispute Resolution.

Prior to commencing his Law degree, Stuart has been in various senior management roles within the wine industry and Managing Director of his own consultancy company. Stuart has commenced his professional career as a legal assistant/paralegal at James McConvill & Associates and brings with him a mature outlook and professional approach. He has perfected many skills that are essential in a legal career such as time-management, attention to detail, researching and analytical skills. Stuart applies these skills in his work by his dedication to taking on various tasks within the firm and providing excellent client satisfaction.

Khaled Wahab

Khaled Wahab is a Paralegal with the firm, and is currently completing his Juris Doctor degree at Bond University. Khaled is the Founder and President of the Bond University Mooting Association. Additionally, Khaled is the Competitions Director of the Canadian Law Students Association.

Khaled earned his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Studies and Sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. During his undergraduate degree, Khaled founded Laurier Afghan Students Association at Wilfrid Laurier University. Khaled also served as the Policy Manager for the Wilfrid Laurier Studentsí Union.
Prior to studying Law at Bond University, Khaled worked in various professional capacities. Khaled was a Paralegal Assistant at AR Paralegals in Canada from 2011 to 2013. As a Paralegal Assistant Khaled acquired knowledge and practical legal skills in a wide range of practice areas including small claims court litigation, landlord and tenant disputes, municipal law, employment, personal injury law, and traffic offences. Moreover, Khaled has held retail positions with reputable companies such as TD Canada Trust Bank, Bell Aliant Canada, and MBW Shoes.
Khaledís enterprising spirit, versatility, and passion for the law, complemented by his professional, academic and volunteer experiences demonstrate his valuable contribution to the firm.

Alan
Alan Reynolds

Alan Reynolds is a Paralegal with James McConvill & Associates. Alan holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from St Johnís College in the United States and a Master of International Relations degree from the University Melbourne.

He is a final year as a Juris Doctor candidate at the University of Melbourne Law School. Alan received the 2017 Australian Italian Lawyers Association Award for Cross Border Litigation and the 2017 Sir George Patton Prize for International Commercial Law and Disputes for his scholastic achievements at MLS.
